The day before the national lockdown ended on 14 April, the GoAP promptly announced the extension till 30 April. And it was superimposed by Central Govt’s lockdown till 3 May.

Meanwhile, relief initiatives started making headlines.

  • SBI paying to beneficiaries of PMJDY and PM Kisan Yojana.
  • CM announced Rs 3,500 to those stranded outside the state.

25 Day (18 April) Headline of a bad news: 40 persons from Arunachal had been onboard with the Covid positive man from Assam on 18 and 21 March (AP Times, 25 April 2020).

AP Times (19 April) made a frontpage coverage on hunting during the lockdown. Perhaps, scarcity of meat combined with boredom at home, led to outside games. This made headlines in national news. The LogicalIndian did good verification.

Meanwhile for a couple of days, this killing and consuming of a snake became the topic of the day. On 21 April, the Itanagar News reached out to the people in the news and received clarification.

Arunachal is going to have its COVID -19 testingin  TRIHMS from 25 April. Health Minister also announced: “apart from the two COVID-19 hospitals being set up in Itanagar and Pasighat, we are contemplating to open such hospitals in 10 other districts which are to be equipped with ICU, ventilators etc to fight Coronavirus.”

Steps to Bring back Arunachal people

29 April Govt provides 27 buses for people stranded in Itanagar. All the buses are for western districts.

2 May: Govt announced plans to bring back people from other states and invited for online registration. Travel on 4 May.

Further Developments

Just 3 days prior to the end of Lockdown, Arunachal announced a testing center for COVID 19 at the Microvirology Deptt TRIHMS (Arunachal Today).

Union Govt announced further extension of two weeks Lockdown from 4 to 17 May with some relaxations. India has 37366 cases and 1223 deaths as of 2 May, 9.30 am.

Towards the end of Lockdown,  Indian Airforce pour pedals to appreciate Corona workers. This was not appreciated much. Cartoon tells the feelings.
